The companies GoGridPulse's audience sells to, watches, or plans around are changing what businesses they're in — which means tracking just "drilling permits" is already behind the reality on the ground.

Every tracked data type is a layer — drilling permits and radioactive materials licensing today, more added the same verified way over time. What's tracked today

Drilling permits — new oil & gas drilling permit applications and issued permits, statewide across Texas and New Mexico, updated as regulators publish them. Radioactive materials licensing — pending license applications (new licenses, renewals, and major amendments) tracked from TCEQ's public list. Each layer is verified against a real downloaded sample or a real live source before it ships — see "Where the data comes from" below.

Where the data comes from

Texas drilling permit data comes from the Railroad Commission of Texas's own free public data files — including their "Drilling Permits Pending Approval" feed, which the Commission itself updates twice daily. New Mexico permit data comes from the New Mexico Oil Conservation Division's public well database. Radioactive materials licensing data comes from the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality's public pending-applications list.

GoGridPulse is an independent project and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or operated by any of these agencies. Always confirm anything decision-critical directly with the source agency — this site is a convenience layer for exploring public data, not a system of record.

Status definitions

Each layer defines its own statuses, in language framed around what it means for someone deciding whether to act on it, rather than a regulator's own jargon. For drilling permits: New leads (the source data calls this "pending") means an application has been filed and is awaiting regulatory approval — the earliest signal, typically the most useful one for a vendor pitching services before drilling starts. Activity starting (the source data calls this "issued") means the permit has been approved and drilling could begin soon — the more useful signal for anyone whose business follows the workforce and equipment once it shows up. Not every filed permit results in a well being drilled. For radioactive materials licensing, every tracked record is a pending application — a new license, renewal, or major amendment under regulatory review.

Location on the map

GoGridPulse can show you activity near your general area using your IP address (a rough, city-level guess, not stored by GoGridPulse) or, if you choose to share it, your device's precise location. Either is optional — skipping both just shows the newest activity statewide instead, and you can switch back at any time.

Accuracy

Data is pulled directly from the agencies listed above on a regular schedule with no manual editing, except where a source itself has no bulk feed (radioactive materials licensing today) — those are hand-checked against the real source periodically rather than automated, and said so plainly rather than presented as continuously live. Some records may be missing map coordinates if the source data doesn't include them yet — those still count in the totals and appear in the list, just not as a pin on the map.
